GD Stonemasons Supplier of Welsh Fossil Marble

This beautiful and decorative stone takes a high polish and can be used for fireplaces, hearths and bathrooms.

Unlike the European marbles which have been subject to colossal pressure and temperatures, the Welsh Fossil Marble has been left extravagantly fossilised, displaying the remains of a 400 million year old tropical sea as if it were deposited yesterday.  Crinoids, Bivalves, Brachiopod and Ammonoids appear unaltered in a crystalline fabric, which glistens in the light.

A similar stone can be seen at Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall, Halkyn Church and great houses throughout the UK.  Welsh Fossil Marble is often called Halkyn Marble and is similar to the Derbyshire Fossil.
